Category introduction
BSP threads — parallel (BSPP) and taper (BSPT) — are common on equipment built for European, Asian and Oceanian markets and for general export work. The two forms seal differently, so the thread form matters as much as the size.
Selection notes
Identify parallel or taper first, then the size. BSPP usually seals on a bonded face, a soft washer or an O-ring; BSPT seals on the thread itself. Do not assume a 1/4 in BSPP is interchangeable with 1/4 in NPT — pitch and angle both differ. Confirm the mating part's standard before ordering.
