JIS

JIS — the Japanese Industrial Standards family — covers hydraulic interfaces found on Japanese-built machinery and on equipment assembled from that supply chain. Sizes, threads and sealing forms follow the JIS specification rather than JIC, BSP or NPT conventions.

Identify the JIS specification and size from the mating part before ordering. A JIS nominal size does not map directly onto a JIC, BSP or NPT size, and the sealing form varies across JIS series. On equipment rebuilt outside Japan, a purpose-made adapter is usually more reliable than a near-matching thread.
